  • How to hide/skip 2nd step a lead (email) banner

    Please place HTML code element in the 2nd step of banner, and then use this HTML code:

    If this code is used, then after user fills out form, the 2nd step of banner will automatically be hidden (banner will close itself).

  • Using tags for Web Push Notifications

    Want to send Web Push Notifications only to some specific group of your website visitors? You can do that by using tags.  

    To use this feature, you need to modify MaxTraffic tracking code. By default it looks like this:

    If you want to add or remove tags, please use addTag or RemoveTag functions:

    addTag/removeTag can be called once or many times, only new unique tags will be added. Tags are case insensitive, example: "Super User" is transformed to "super user" Tag max length is 36 chars. If tag length exceeds 36 chars, chars after 36

  • Step 1.

    To create a campaign click the button go to "Promo Bars" section and click "Add Promobar" button. In this step you create and customize your promobar.

    You can choose between three types of promo bars: "Promotion", "Subscribe" and "Slider". With promotion and slider type you can notify visitors about different activities on your site, redirect traffic, promote products.

    With subscribe type you can collect email subscribers.

    The layout of promo bars are fixed, but you can customize the color scheme and position. Click on color boxes and choose color from color picker or provide color code.

  • How to simulate an Overlay event?

    If you want to trigger Overlay banner with a click on a button or in some other way, you can set a manual trigger when creating an overlay at the "Targeting visitors" step:

    When the script is executed, system will trigger the particular overlay to show up

  • Web Push Sequence campaigns: Subscribe event

    Subcribe event happens when website visitor clicks "allow" and gives his permission to receive Web Push Notifications. 

    To create a sequence campaign based on this trigger:

    1. Login in your e.maxtraffic.com account, then go to Automation > Sequence

    2. Click "New Sequence"

    By default it will be "New Sequence", but we recommend to set a campaign name that matches the idea behind it, for example - "Welcome campaign"

  • How to use dynamic content in Overlays?

    It is possible to add dynamic content to the Overlays that you create on the MaxTraffic platform.

    1. Creating dynamic variables

    To be able to create dynamic content, first, you will need to add dynamic variables into the system. In order to do that, the tracking script has to be changed a little bit.

    Now, if your website ID is 999, then normally the tracking script for your website would look like this:

    Inside this tracking script, you are going to create the dynamic variables. All of them need to be defined, as well as assigned with values within the script.

  • Using your own data (traits) to create custom segments

    Want to send Web Push Notifications to segments that are created based on your own data about your clients? You can do that by using Traits and Javascript API. 

    Define user traits (custom fields) 

    1. In e.maxtraffic.com go to Settings > Website Settings > Trait mappings

    2. Click on "Define new trait" button to add new user trait (custom field)

    3. Fill out details about each user trait (custom field) that you want to use:

  • How to add a transparent banner?

    1. Prepare a PNG format banner that is transparent - an example below:

    2. Upload it as standard banner.

    3. Click press the dots on the right of your campaign and from the dropdown menu select "Edit".

    4. Go to "Background" section in Ad Editor.

    5. Choose "Transparent" option and save the banner.

  • How to use Cookie targeting?

    There are many ways how you could use Cookie targeting, but the main requirement to use this feature - your website needs to set cookies for visitors, when specific conditions are met. So that later you could target these visitors based on cookie names and values. One example below:

  • How does A/B testing for Overlay campaigns work?

    1) Create an Overlay campaign, select at least 2 Ads

    2) A/B testing starts automatically – each Ad is shown at least 500 times, and the most effective Ad remains active, others are deactivated. You can see statistics about each Ad when you click on campaign name in Overlays section.

    3) If later with new impressions the active Ad starts to perform worse than others, then the most effective Ad is activated, others – disabled. So A/B testing process is running all the time.

    Implementing tracking code

    To install MaxTraffic Tracking Code, login to your Bigcommerce control panel, select Settings menu, then under Advanced Settings choose the Web Analytics option. In some versions of the control panel, this is located under Setup & Tools › Set up your store › Web Analytics.

    Paste the MaxTraffic Tracking Code into the Tracking Code field. After clicking Save, your Bigcommerce store will now have the tracking code on every page.

  • How to open link in a new tab?

    1. Open your banner in Ad Editor, select "Elements" menu 

    2. Click "Add HTML" button

     

    3. Edit HTML code

     

    Delete the the old HTML code:  "<p>Your HTML here</p>"

    And replace it with following code (just change google.com to your own link):

    That is it! Now if someone will click on banner, the link you specified in HTML code, will open in a new tab.
